Atarax is a drug with antihistamine, sedative, anxiolytic and antiemetic effects. Initially, it was used primarily as a first-generation antihistamine from the piperazine family, but now it is used most often as a relatively “soft” tranquilizer.
The drug is prescribed to adults:
– to relieve anxiety, psychomotor agitation, feelings of internal tension, increased irritability in neurological, mental (including generalized anxiety, adaptation disorders) and somatic diseases, chronic alcoholism; withdrawal syndrome in chronic alcoholism, accompanied by psychomotor agitation;
– as a sedative during premedication;
– skin itching (as symptomatic therapy).
Allowed for children to reduce anxiety or in the preoperative period.
