Estrofem is a hormone replacement therapy used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of women who have had their uterus surgically removed (called a hysterectomy) and who have signs and symptoms of estrogen deficiency.
If a woman has a surgical or natural menopause, the production of sex hormones called estrogen and progesterone decreases or stops. Estrofem replaces the hormone estrogen, which the body stops producing after surgical or natural menopause.
A drop or decrease in hormone levels can cause unpleasant symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, vaginal dryness, urinary problems, headaches, mood swings, lack of concentration, or loss of energy.
