NovoNorm is a fast-acting oral stimulator of insulin secretion. Repaglinide quickly lowers blood glucose levels by stimulating the secretion of insulin by the pancreas.
Indications for use:
Diabetes mellitus type II (non-insulin dependent), when diet, weight loss and exercise fail to achieve satisfactory control of blood glucose levels.
The use of repaglinide in combination with metformin or thiazolidinediones is also indicated for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who cannot achieve satisfactory glycemic control with these drugs alone. Treatment should begin as an addition to diet and exercise to reduce blood glucose levels, and the drug should be administered in conjunction with meals.
