Vagifem is used to relieve vaginal symptoms of menopause such as dryness or irritation. In medical terminology, this condition is known as vaginal atrophy. It is caused by a drop in the level of the female sex hormone (estrogen), which usually occurs after the last menstrual period.
Vagifem 10 mcg replaces estrogen, which is normally produced in a woman’s ovaries. It is inserted into the vagina so the hormone is released where it is needed.
