The release of levonorgestrel into the uterine cavity begins immediately after insertion of the IUD. More than 90% of the isolated levonorgestrel is systemically available. The maximum concentration of levonorgestrel in the blood serum is achieved during the first 2 weeks after insertion of the Kaylin IUD
